An exciting opportunity is available for a full time or part time Boatperson to support rowing from the boathouse jointly operated by Wadham, St Anne’s and St Hugh’s colleges (the employment contract will be administered by Wadham College). The Boatperson will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of boats and equipment and the upkeep and security of the boathouse, and will report to the Domestic Bursar at Wadham College.
Full time salary: University of Oxford Salary Scale Grade 5: £24,565 - £29,301 per annum (discretionary to £32,004 pa), depending on qualifications and experience. Calculated pro rata for part time. The key responsibilities include ensuring boats and equipment are maintained and repaired as fit for purpose, provide support to the boat clubs in the transportation of boats and equipment, as well as the general upkeep and safety of the colleges’ boathouse. Successful applicants will need to have excellent knowledge and experience of repairing boats and equipment, or relevant transferable skills and experience working with composite materials. Applicants will need knowledge of rigging and boat set up, ability to keep the boathouse in good order and carry out general boathouse repairs and the ability to prioritise workloads. Full time or part time hours will be considered. Full time working hours are: 40 hours per week averaged over the year. Part-time hours equate to 60% or 80% FTE averaged over the year. Weekend work will be required to support rowing events and additional hours may be required in some weeks, especially during term time, for which time in lieu may be taken.
