Putney Town Rowing Club is one of the largest and most active rowing clubs on the Tideway, with thriving Learn to Row, Development, Senior and Masters programmes.

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and motivated coach to join our Senior squads coaching team from September.

Whether your passion is developing athletes to compete at Henley Royal Regatta, helping ambitious club rowers reach their potential, or creating an environment where people enjoy training and improve together, we’d love to hear from you.

At PTRC, we believe successful coaching is about more than race results. It’s about building a positive squad culture, developing individuals, and creating an environment where athletes enjoy coming to training while striving to perform at their best.

The role

As a Senior Squad Coach, you’ll lead the planning and delivery of training for one of our senior squads, working alongside our Captains, squad coordinators and wider coaching team.

Typical responsibilities include:

• Planning and delivering high-quality water and land-based training sessions.
• Producing structured seasonal training programmes.
• Supporting athletes’ technical, physical and competitive development.
• Preparing crews for head races, regattas and championship events.
• Working collaboratively with Development coaches to support athlete progression into the Senior squad.
• Contributing to our wider coaching community through regular coach meetings and shared learning.

Our Senior squads typically train on Saturday and Sunday mornings together with one or more weekday evening sessions. We are happy to discuss flexible coaching arrangements depending on experience and availability.

There is flexibility around the exact coaching commitment depending on the successful applicant and squad requirements, with additional support around key racing periods where appropriate.

• Can communicate effectively and build strong relationships within the squad.
• Is organised and able to plan training over the course of a season.

Applicants from a range of coaching backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Paid positions will normally require a British Rowing Coach Licence (or equivalent experience).
