Star Rowing Club, Bedford is seeking an ambitious and inspiring Director of Rowing to lead and expand the Club's rowing programme.


ABOUT THE ROLE

As Director of Rowing you will lead and develop the club's rowing programme, working alongside the Head Junior Coach, volunteer coaches and the Management Board. You will deliver high quality coaching across different squads including juniors, seniors and masters. Alongside these responsibilities you will oversee the planning and delivery of training programmes and camps, the management of the fleet and the expansion of the club's school and community partnerships.


MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and develop the club's rowing programme.
  • Coach junior, senior and masters athletes.
  • Work alongside the Head Junior Coach to develop the junior programme.
  • Lead, develop and support the volunteer coaching team.
    Develop and strengthen partnerships with schools and other organisations.
    Attend regattas, head races, training camps and other rowing events.
  • Oversee the management, maintenance and development of the fleet and equipment.
    Create and promote a safe, inclusive and aspirational environment where all members can thrive.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

The ideal candidate will have significant rowing coaching experience within a club, school or university environment including planning and delivering athlete development programnes, as well as a background of rowing at a high level.

In addition, you will have or be prepared to work towards:

  • A recognized coaching qualification, for example
  • British Rowing Level 2 Coach
  • British Rowing - Safeguarding and protecting children.
  • Powerboat RYA 2 (or equivalent)
  • A full driving licence
  • Experience of towing trailers

HOURS AND BENEFITS

Full time (on average 37.5 hours/week).

Weekly/monthly hours will vary depending on the rowing calendar and events.

Regular evening and weekend working will be required, together with attendance at regattas, head races and training camps throughout the season.

  • Salary: £30,000-£35,000 depending on experience
    28 days holiday/annum
