Role Description
Cranmore
is seeking a level 2 rowing coach to lead sessions and develop rowing within
the school’s new and growing programme. The post is for 3 afternoon water
sessions per week (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday), as well as some additional
land sessions both during term time with supplementary hours for competitions
as required. Salary dependant on
experience.
Cranmore is a leading independent
school in Surrey having taught prep school pupils for 50 years. In September 2019, Cranmore became part of
the Effingham Schools Trust and will educate pupils through to age 18. In our
February 2022 inspection report inspectors rated the school ‘excellent’ in all
areas. They highlighted our strong sporting ethos and that pupils understand
that as part of leading a healthy lifestyle, participation in sport and other
physical pursuits can make a positive contribution to their physical, mental
and emotional well-being.
Cranmore is in an area of outstanding
natural beauty with enviable sports facilities including a swimming pool (with
a sculling boat for capsize drills) and athletic development centre equipped
with Concept 2 ergometers. Water sessions occur on the River Thames, boating
from Walton Rowing Club boathouse where the school stores its own quads,
doubles, singles, coach boat and blades. Pupils participate in heads, regattas
and indoor rowing competitions with a history of winning. In addition to Cranmore School Rowing Club
boats the club also has access to Walton’s boats and training facilities. The
club is supported by Walton Rowing Club and also enjoys strong support from
parents.
Roles and Responsibilities
· Inspire
pupils to complete in national competitions
· Assist the current students involved in the Rowing programme and help it
grow as the school progresses
· Freedom to shape the programme as you wish to enable the success of the
team
· Be a positive role model for the students and have an enthusiasm for the
sport
The successful candidate will:
· Hold British Rowing Level 2 Club Coach Qualification
· Full Driving Licence
Desirable
criteria:
· Ability to drive a trailer
·
Ability to drive a
minibus
·
Strength and conditioning coaching experience/qualification
·
RYA power boat level 2 qualification
· Safeguarding training
· First Aid qualified
· Experience coaching youth athletes
· Experience competing and coaching within the sport of rowing
